Top 25 Rap Songs of the 2000’s

8. Izzo (H.O.V.A.)– Jay-Z

‘Izzo’ believe it or not was Jay-Z’s first Billboard top 10 track as a lead artist so you know it’s big. It was an anthem, it was the introduction to him as the self proclaimed “God of the MC’s.” It brings us into the light of the early stages of Jay-Z greatness. HOV talks about drug dealing to exploitation in the recording industry and then to his childhood growing up in Marcy Projects (Brooklyn, NY).

Dope Lyrics: “Hov’ is back, life stories told through rap, Niggas acting like I sold you crack, Like I told you sell drugs; no, Hov’ did that, So hopefully you won’t have to go through that

I like the list. I don’t agree though with “Soul Survivor” being on it. I found it interesting that you included “Hey Ya” as a rap song.

No Kanye West? Really? He deserves to be in the top 25 a couple of times and not just Honorable Mention.
